Tristan's Meow

Meow everyone. My name is Tristan. I came to live with my human a few months after the passing of Ren. I never got to meet Ren, however I have heard many things about him. I know that my human loved him very much and his passing was very hard.
My start into this world was not an easy one. I was abandon along with my littermates on some big ranch. Lucky for us, we were saved and then came for a while to live at ResQCats. This is where my human found me. She adopted me along with another cat whom she named Sigfried. We were named after the 2 characters from the book All Creatures Great And Small by James Herriot. My human loves all of his books. They are full of such warm and wonderful stories.
Shortly after coming to my new home, I became very sick. I had a very high fever and was so weak that I could not stand. My human was so distraught. She just could not bear to go through another loss so soon.
The vet never did figure out what was wrong with me. They just put me down as having a fever of unknown origin. Anyway, With lots of TLC, I did get through it.
I have since settled in quite nicely as has Sigfried. Sigfried is a bit on the shy side. I however am more adventurous. I am sure that I will have lots of good stories to tell all of you.
Well, we all made it through that crazy time humans call Christmas. We cats got lots of toys and momma kitty got a new cat bed. Her name is Nutmeg but human bean calls her Momma kitty because when she got her from the shelter, she had just made kittens. Sad to say, all of the kittens died. Human bean kept Momma kitty because she was too scared and wild to be considered adoptable.
The human noticed recently that Momma Kitty was drooling a lot and the side of her face was swollen. You should have seen the human trying to get her into a carrier!! What a sight that was. It took about 20 minutes and she was only able to do it after getting her to go inside the bathroom and shutting the door. She then was able to force her to go inside the carrier.
When human got to the vet, Momma Kitty was not wanting to come out. They had to turn it upside down and even then it was hard. Once she came out, she tried to climb up the walls and knocked stuff all over the place. When she would hiss at my human and the vet, they could see a large growth in her mouth. It looked pretty icky.
In the end, they had to put her under just to examine her. All her teeth were taken out along with the growth which turned out not to be cancer. The vet then put her back in the carrier before she woke up.
I am glad to say that Momma Kitty is feeling much better these days and is able to eat again.
Meow everyone. Boy! what a yucky day. All this rain is interfering with my lizard hunting. It is cold and I wish my human would turn up the heat. I heard my human saying that there was snow as low as 2000 feet. I'm not sure what snow is and I don't think I want to find out.
Since I was forced to stay inside, I played run up and down the stairs with Siegfried. That was pretty fun until we ran into the dreadful "Taco Dog" on the landing. I meow you what!! Dat pesky little Taco Dog just started barking and ruined all the fun! I was so upset that I had to go take a nap to recover.

6-25-06 Mews everyone. In 19 days my human is off to Yorkshire. This will be my humans first time out of the country. I must say, I am not very happy about my human being gone from us for over 2 weeks. We are going to be taken care of by "The Monster". he is the other human that lives here My human is getting rather excited to go. I here her say she will be taking lots of pictures while wondering around the country side.
My human is a volunteer with the Santa Barbara Wildlife Network. She works at the Sea Pond with the sea birds. Her favorite are Cormorants. She thinks they are so cute the way they stand penguin like. She finds lots of them around this time of year that for various reasons, become weak and sick. She found the two below together and thankfully they recovered and were released together.

Well I must say, my human sure has been busy. Today July 9th, she rescued 2 more cormorants. This makes 11 at least this week. The one below was just laying on it's belly on the shore. My human did not think it would live long enough to get it to the pond. Turned out it had a swollen foot. After it was hydrated and given an antibiotic, the foot was wrapped. Poor little guy, I sure hope that he makes it. The other one she picked up, was in better shape. After he was hydrated, he actually ate some fish which was really good.

Here are some of the others that she picked up earlier in the week that are doing good and will be released soon.
